Week of November 14-18
The letter of focus this week is "O." For the subsequent weeks the letters are G, E, C, W, D, U, Q, L, V, R, Y, X, J, Z, K. This week the focus will be on nonfiction books, specifically focusing on identifying captions in books and creating captions for given pictures. We are also creating our Native American and Pilgrim costumes for this Thursday's Thanksgiving lunch. The kids will get to choose whether to dress as one or the other but can take home everything they make. Remember to continue having your kids reading and counting at home. If you have access to or can create some letters, it's also a good idea to have them start to build words. Perhaps start out giving them three letters that would create a word and see if they can put them in the correct order. Remind them that every word needs a vowel and review those letters with them. For math, continue having them count objects but also see if they can differentiate between the quantity of two or more groups based on sight, them confirm it by having them count. You can also write down a pair of numbers and have them identify the greatest and least of the two. It might be a good idea to go over what respect means with your child as well. This upcoming week off is just around the corner and the kids deserve some time off, but in the meantime some feelings have gotten hurt from things that have been said; other times we're not respecting someone else's space..., things like that. Just remind them to make sure they treat their neighbors the way they'd want to be treated - and many already do an amazing job. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Q56nHoJacUmhmzyFNphnIhVyiZNjKLScZ6gHDmT_y8A/edit?usp=sharing |
